Top Three Questions

When a person goes on a job interview, it is like a salesperson making a sales call.  The company employer is the potential customer.  The job applicant is the salesperson.  The goal is to understand the needs of the customer (employer) and position the product (applicant) to best meets those needs.

Questions are important.  Good salespeople know how to ask questions that create opportunties to explain how their product meets the needs of the customer.  And employers love job applicants who ask questions that reflect an interest or understanding of their business.

There are many possible questions an applicant could ask.  The key is to stop talking about “self” and focus on the employer.  Below are my “top three, all-time favorite” questions.  If you have others, please reply to this blog and share them with our readers.  Here goes …

  • What makes your company successful?  Why has it been so successful over the years?
  • How does your company make money?
  • What does it take to be a successful member of the team here?

Now, I feel like I am being greedy. So be it, I want my students to know all they can, and myself likewise. I am loving this class and the articles. Here goes again, print, print, print. Thanks again…
